I have problems with an Altec Lansing computer speaker system model No 6158, Every time I plug the connecting line to my computer it shorts out all sound even the windows sound and it does not matter whether the speaker system is connected or not. Just plugging the cord in shorts my computer sound. There are quite a few complaints about the connection on the internet. I want to buy a new cable, but I have not found a single supplier. Please respond and supply the name and address of a supplier of this cable to connect my 6158 system back to my computer. If there are other problems with this system please advise.
I have been calling the 800-258-3288 number for two weeks and no one will pick up it keeps telling me that they have a "higher than normal call volume". I have emailed an no one replies back. I am trying to get a warranty item fixed that I bought off amazon and they refused to take it back, now dealing with Altec Lansing is becoming a nightmare.

Called Customer service on hold for 25 min. Finally spoke to rep. Ask for items not in speaker box cables and adapter carrying case operators manual. He said no problem, but will take 10/15 days to receive it. Then wanted me to call back in two hours because of system problems. I ask to speak to supervisor was given run around for several minuets, finally spoke to supervisor Michael Clayton he explained that system was down that I needed to call back in two two hours for tracking number Told that was not acceptable they could call me or email me the number he insist that cannot be done. Then ask how I would rate the service I received without a doubt I told him one should have said 0. He hung up on the call which I find very rude for a manager in customer service with any company My time spent on this product has exceeded an hour and is still not complete. So whats your take on the issue?? Is this what you consider quality service?

I looked on Amazon and other sites like Ebay and not get in any place this part. I appreciate your help to inform me where I can get this piece or if there is any way to replace it with another device. Thank you very much.

IMT810 will not power on, it does work with batteries. I thought it was only the IMT800 that Altec had this problem with (because I had that one originally and you sent me a new one after I sent you proof of purchase, etc).
Today it was playing, I unplugged it and it will not come on now; bought some batteries and it works with the batteries.

The Altec rep told me it was a problem with the power jack/receptacle on the IMT800....and that it's far too expensive to fix .., but now I am concerned because your website doesn't have the boombox anywhere. I really can not afford to operate it strictly by battery so, I'll sure appreciate hearing back from you at your earliest convenience; please advise me as to what we will do for the next step!
