Anand Agriculture University – AAU Anand was set up to provide support to the farming community in three facets namely education, research and extension activities in Agriculture, Horticulture Engineering, product Processing and Home Science. At Present there three colleges, seventeen research centers and six extension education institute working in six districts of Gujrat namely Ahmedabad, Anand, Dahod, Kheda,Panchmahal and Voadodra.

Anand Agriculture University – AAU Anand is to search for new frontiers of Agricultural Sciences, Development of excellent human resources and innovative technologies and Services to farming community.The Library was an accessory to the then SMC School of Dairy Science. After the inception of the B.A. College of Agriculture in 1947, it grew as the Central Library, merging the collections of BACA and SMC College of Dairy Science. In 1983, it was named after Dr Maganbhai Dahyabhai Patel (Dr.M.D.Patel Library).
Looking to thestriking advances made by the Information Technology Center at
Anand Agriculture University – AAU Anand campus in the erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University for the development of Agricultural Education as per SAU model under ARIS and ISD, ICAR had taken Dr M.D. Patel Library to be an integral part of its 18-Regional Library Consortium project and selected Dr M.D. Patel Library as the Regional Library in the western zone.
