Government College for Girls Sector 42 is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. It was established in 1982, before shifting to its present location, it was being run in the school building of Sector 19, Chandigarh. Today it has 150 dedicated teaching staff for 3500 students. The College is engaged in serving sound education to empower the girl students for last twenty nine years.
Government College for Girls Sector 42 has huge building with a beautiful infrastructure. It also has a canteen that provides hygienic food. The Campus has vast playground which is used for many games and sports activities. The Campus has well maintained library that has large numbers of books and journals. The College has given many sports persons who have performed in National, Inter-State and Inter-College competitions.
