Guru Nanak College for Girls - Muktsar was started in the holy memory of Sh. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, under the guidence of S. Parkash Singh Badal in 1970. Bibi Baljinder Kaur Mann, who was the first principal of the College came from Govt. college for women, Patiala on Deputation. She made the all- round development of the College.But she died in 1975. In July 1975, the charge of the College was given to Mrs.Rajbans Kaur Sidhu.
Guru Nanak College for Girls - Muktsar had taught almost the two Generations of the Adjacent villages. Mrs.Rajbans kaur Sidhu retired and in August 2002, Dr.(Mrs.) Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal was appointed as the Principal of College. In October 2002, the College came under the management of S.G.P.C. With untiring spirit, she contributes her competence and administrative talent to uplift the greater achievements . Guru Nanak College for Girls - Muktsar provides residential accomodation to about 150 students in its hostel equipped with all requisite facilities. The college has beautiful pollution free environment with sprawling lawns & playground. The total strength during the session 2004-05 comes upto 750. At its inception, Guru Nanak College for Girls - Muktsar housed the old building of Sarah owned by SGPC. The Old hostel was also a part of this building. Afterwards new Hostel building was constructed with the joint efforts of former principal Mrs. R.K. Sindhu and Late. Dr. Kehar Singh, The Vice-President of the college. The new hostel building provides accommodation to 150 boarders and is equipped with all modern facilities.

Library adequately equipped with books covering wide range of disciplines of academic and non-academic interest. Physical Education as its name depicts it is an integral part of education .
