The Bihar
Legislative Assembly is the lower house of bicameral legislature of Bihar. It is not a permanent unit and is set up for five years term. The Assembly has 243 members and they are elected by the residents of Bihar.
Bihar Legislative Assembly was formed in 1937 with 152 members. First elections were held in 1952 in Bihar and that time its members are increased to 331 members. Its members are reduced to 243 members after the creation of Jharkhand from Bihar.

Janata Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal are the three main parties of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
