Jairam Ramesh is an Indian
Economist and politician. He was born on April 9, 1954 in Chikmagalur, Karnataka, India. He belongs to Indian National
Congress and since June 2004, he is a Member of Parliament representing state of
Andhra Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha. On July 13, 2011 he was appointed as the Minister of Rural Development. He is an Iyengar and his
Mother tongue is Tamil. In year 1975, Jairam Ramesh graduated from IIT
Bombay with a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and received Masters of Science in Public Policy and Public Management from
Carnegie Mellon University’s
Heinz College.
