Matt Dillon in five separate decades: 1955 to 1975 in the weekly series. Arness was the number 6 television star among 25 TV stars chosen by People Magazine on the fiftieth anniversary of television in 1989. In 1996, TV Guide ranked Arnes twenty on its fifty TV Stars and also nominated for a number of Ammy Awards which include: Best Continuing Performance Actor in dramatic series in 1957, Best Continuing Performance in Comedy Series in 1958 and Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Series in 1959.
