James Hansen is an adjunct professor in the Department of
Earth and Environmental Sciences at
Columbia University. He was born on March 29, 1941 in Denison, Iowa, United States. He is famous for his research work in the field of climatology, Radiative transfer and Planetary atmospheres. He was also the Head of the
Nasa Goddard Institute for Space Studies in
New York City from year 1981 to 2013. He completed B.A in physics and Mathematics in year 1963 from
the University of Iowa and later in year 1965 he did M.S in Astronomy and Ph.D in Physics in year 1967 from Iowa University. From year 1962 to 1966, he participated in the NASA graduate traineeship. In year 1967 he started working at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies. In April 2013,
James Hansen retired from the NASA and has received many honors and awards.
