Delta University is a momentous twist in the academic, located in Wilberforce Island Bayelsa State, Bayelsa, Nigeria. The university has started its academic activities in the session of 2001- 2002. At present the
Niger Delta University has three campuses: Gloryland campus (main), the
College of Health Sciences campus and the temporary campus of the Faculty of Law. Initially the university has only 1039 students, which has increased continuous and in the session of 2009- 2010, it increased up to 10,000. The Niger Delta University was formed in 2000 by Chief
Dsp Alamieseigha. It is one of the top fifty best universities in Nigeria. To provide best and qualitative knowledge is the main purpose behind its establishment. Niger Delta University is a member of
Commonwealth Universities, consists nine faculties: science, arts, social sciences, agricultural technology, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, nursing and faculty of law. The university is small but it is one of the efficient universities and has experienced academic staff, almost retired teachers from other universities. The Government of the Bayelsa State has always been dedicated to the growth of the Niger Delta University. The management of the school also has been identified to broaden the resources of income, as aspect of the concentrate; endowment finance is already in position.
