Kamathipura is a
 Red Light District in Mumbai, initially called as
 Lal Bazaar. Kamathipura got its name from the workers of the state of
 Andhra Pradesh, who worked on construction of causeways that linked the erstwhile seven isles of Bombay. Kamathipura is divided into fourteen lanes and has 55,936 population according to the survey conducted in 2007, out of which fifteen thousand are Muslims, 6500 telugus and others are South Indians, East Indians and Marathi. The area of the Kamathipura is home to a small cottage industry of about two hundred females who earn an income from rolling beedis.
