The University of
Maryland women’s basketball team is a well-known team in the history of the women’s basketball. It is known as the Maryland Terrapins and is located in the College Park, Mary Land,

Atlantic Coast Conference. The first women’s basketball was organized on the campus in year 1923 and in 1971 the team was officially recognized as the varsity sport. During the first four seasons, the basketball team was headed by the coach Dottie Mc Knight. The first state championship won by the Terpes was in the 1972-1973 Season and the first NCAA championship was won by the team in 2006.
