Ramanujan College was previously known as
Deshbandhu Evening College. It was established by the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Government of India in the year 1958. It started as a men’s college but later in 1994 it initiated taking admissions for women as well. The college came under University of
Delhi since 1972. It became a separate entity from the Deshbandhu Evening College in July 2010 with the focus on Mathematics, Information Technology, Business Studies and Psychology. It is having a separate new campus located in Kalkaji,
New Delhi which is spread over seven acres of land. It is under the
Delhi University and is fully funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is named after the Great Indian Mathematician “ Srinivas Aiyangar Ramanujan”, who is world’s greatest ever mathematician. It offers various degree courses in B.Com (Hons), English (H), Hindi (H), Statistics (H), Economics (H), Mathematics (H), Political Science (H), B.Tech in Computer Science and Psychological Science etc. It has eleven departments and is the third largest college in Delhi University for Commerce Education. With the best of experienced and well qualified faculty, it has excellent facilities for the students which includes well stocked library, computer lab, canteen, gym, sports, playground, equal opportunity cell and remedial classes. It also has a placement cell for campus recruitment of its students along with the University’s central placement cell. It believes in nurturing overall development of the students by focusing not only on academic but also extra-curricular activities.
