Ahmed Hoosen Deedat was an Islamic scholar, speaker and writer. He was born on 1 July 1918 in Surat, India. Ahmed Hoosen Deedat is popularly known for his inter-religious debates with notable Christian scholars. He was a scholar of comparative religions and delivered lectures in many countries such as Egypt, USA, UK, Denmark and Australia. He also established an Islamic missionary organization, Islamic Prorogation Center International (IPCA). Ahmed Hoosen Deedat was honored with King Faisal International Prize in 1986. He wrote many books on Islam and Christianity. Ahmed Hoosen Deedat died on 8 August 2005 aged 87 in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
