Amadeus is an American period drama film. The film was directed by Miloš Forman and was released on September 19, 1984. Amadeus movie is based on Peter Shaffer's stage play of the same name, which gives a highly fictionalized account of the lives of the composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. The story is set in Vienna, Austria, during the latter half of the 18th century. The main cast of Amadeus featured F. Murray Abraham as Antonio Salieri, Tom Hulce as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Roy Dotrice as Leopold Mozart, Elizabeth Berridge as Constanze Mozart and Jeffrey Jones as Emperor Joseph II. Amadeus is the recipient of 30+ awards including eight Academy Awards (including Best Picture), four Golden Globes and a Directors Guild of America (DGA) award. The film was ranked 53rd on American Film Institute's 100 Years..100 Movies list in 1998
