André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu is a violinist of Netherlands. He was born on 1 October 1949 in Maastricht, Netherlands and is also a conductor. He is popularly known for creating The Johann Strauss Orchestra. Andrea Rieu began his career with Maastricht Salon Orchestra and has performed in many concerts across the world. Andre Rieu performs under the genre Waltz and has been honored with many awards such as Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion (2002), Honorary Medal of the Province of Limburg (2009) and Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2009).
