Zeti Akhtar Aziz is the 7th governor of Bank Negara Malaysia. Bank Negara Malaysia is the central bank of Malaysia. Zeti Akhtar Aziz was appointed as the governor of the bank in May 2000. She is the first woman to serve at the position. Zeti Akhtar Aziz received a doctorate degree in Economics from University of Pennsylvania. She began her career as an economic analyst in 1970s and joined the Bank Negara Malaysia as Deputy Manager of the Economics Department. Zeti Akhtar Aziz was named as the world's best central bank chief in 2009.
