This department promotes agriculture and fisheries development and growth in Philippines. The history of this department dates back to 1898, however this department got its present name in 1987 through Pres. Corazon Aquino's Executive Order No. 116. DA or KPS comprises of many Bureaus viz. Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) etc., along with many other attached agencies.
