Anil Kakodkar is a nuclear scientist of India. He was born on November 11, 1943 in Barwani, India and is the former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India. Anil Kakodkar is also a mechanical engineer and has served as the Director of the BARC. His notable works include Smiling Buddha, Pokhran-II and Indian nuclear program. Anil Kakodkar pursued his studies from University of Nottingham and has been honored with many awards which include Padma Shri (1998), Padma Bhushan (1999) and Padma Vibhushan (2009).
