BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar was founded in the year 1967 under the aegis of DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, with the avowed aim of spreading the benefits of education to women, synchronizing tradition with modernity.

Apart from the lecutre rooms, it has fully furnished Computer Labs, Music Rooms, Home Science & Fashion Designing Laboratories, Design Labs, Science Labs, Geography, Travel Tourism and Psychology Labs, Studios for Fine Arts, Commercial Art, Photography and Design.
BBK DAV College for Women provides Post Graduate, Under Graduate and Diploma Courses to the students. The academic year consists of two terms, the first begins in July and ends in November while the second runs from January to April, for the annual system; while for the semester system it runs from July to December and January to June. All undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma programmes require full time commitment from the students and the system does not exempt them from any compulsory activities.
BBK DAV College for Women offers a well-equipped multi storey high-tech, fully computerized LIBRARY, which has over 60,000 books and subscribes to 200 journals, 16 newspapers and 60 popular magazines. Internet facility is also available in the Library. The college also has a CD Library. Each bonafide student is a member of the college library. Subsidized photostat service is available for the members of the staff and the students of the college.
BBK DAV College for Women Placement Cell remains on its toes trying to organizes campus interviews, workshops, lectures, seminars and counseling sessions for, job aspirants. Many leading companies were invited to the college in connection with placement opportunities for our students.
BBK DAV College for Women enjoys the rare honour of having given to the nation, one Arjuna Awardee, one Olympian and more than a score of players at the international level in addition to 400 sports women of extraordinary ability and mettle at the national level during the last five years. The college's investment in sports is more than 30 lakhs per year and has the latest equipment for all the 37 events. BBK DAV College for Women has made tremendous contribution to University sports adding a major chunk in Guru Nanak Dev University's exceptional feat of winning Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad All India Trophy for sports year after year. Our players have been the proud members of the Indian contingent for the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. A large number of players of this college have represented Guru Nanak Dev University at the Intervarsity level and have brought laurels of victory by winning Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals. 75 players of the college represented GNDU for all India Intervarsity competitions, 11 players were members of Champion teams, 5 players of Runners-up teams and 7 players were members of Second Runners-up teams.
NCC with its three wings - Army, Naval & Air - has a glorious record of achievements at the state and national level. BBK DAV College for Women NCC unit has a glorious history of participation in Republic Day Parades in big numbers and the college cadets have won the rare honour of commanding Prime Minister's rallies. Three students participated in Republic Day on 26th January, 2005 and Ms. Satnam won Gold Medal for outstanding performance. The college contingent participated in Independence Day & Republic Day Parades. BBK DAV College for Women won Overall Trophy in ATC Camp in Sept.-Oct. 2006 held at S.R. Govt. College for Women, Amritsar and Gold Medal in Firing, Guard of Honour, Map Reading, Signal, two Gold Medals in Giddha and Silver Medal in Signals in ATC Camp Dec.2006 held at Police DAV Public School, Amritsar.
BBK DAV College for Women offers hostel accommodation with all the modern amenities and a peaceful atmosphere conducive for studies. The numbers of seats are limited; so candidates desirous of residing in the hostel must get their seats reserved immediately at the time of admission to the college. A separate form for admission to the hostel is supplied with the prospectus, to be filled in by the boarders.
