The regular activity of the College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal started from August 1992, in administrative building of Government Milk Scheme situated in MIDC area of Pusad. Later on, the work for the construction of temporary buildings in the premises of Agriculture School, Warud (Pusad) was undertaken and the College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal was shifted in July 1993. Simultaneously, a proposal was submitted to the Government covering the work of civil construction for Administrative Building, Road, Laboratories, Hostels, Staff Quarters, Workshop, Guest House and Student Dairy Plant for the permanent establishment of the college on 15.68 ha land at Taluka Seed Farm, allotted to this College which was acquired in 1994.


Besides the new administrative building, Student Dairy Plant and other construction in the Taluka Seed Farm, the College presently holds in its possession in the old campus of the College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal (The Agriculture School Campus), the temporary administrative, classroom and laboratory structures, the students’ hostel, the ladies’ common room, the garage and the staff quarters.


The College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal has completed thirteen years imparting education since its establishment. The intake capacity is 32 students per year. Moreover 3 seats over and above the intake capacity and one additional seat for the J & K displaced are reserved for ICAR candidates.


College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal is located at Warud (Pusad), Distt. Yavatmal, Maharashtra.


The College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal Library, which started its functioning initially in 60 sq.m temporary structure, is now established in the new College Building with approx. 500 sq.m. area. Due to unavailability of Indian books in the relatively new field of Dairy Technology, the majority of books purchased in the Library are expensive foreign publications. Still, the College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal Library has managed to cater to all the core and reference requirements of the various disciplines of the Dairy Technology and relevant subjects and has on stock 4693 books and 68 journals to fulfill the academic and information needs of the students and staff. The Library also implemented the Book-Bank scheme for the deserving students utilizing the funds obtained from the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Maharashtra.


College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal offered the Bachelor course.


Initially, a hostel to accommodate 25-30 boys was constructed in temporary structures of the College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal, which was used up to 1996. Thereafter due to lack of amenities like food, hospital and communication etc students preferred to stay in Pusad city. The admitted students stay in Pusad city in rented accommodation. At present, insufficient hostel facilities are available for the students.


College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal has a bus for the field visits of students to milk collections centers, chilling plants, sugar factories, power stations, dairy/food plants and their educational study tours that are a part of course curriculum. At present, this bus is also used to facilitate the to and fro commutation of the students from the city to the campus.


College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal provides the tours facility. The educational tours and field visits form an integral part of the learning experience in the Dairy Technology field. As and when possible, efforts are directed towards arranging such visits to help the students correlate their theoretical knowledge with the field and the market environment.


Research is an integral activity of College of Dairy Technology - DTC Yavatmal to carry out product/process development for various indigenous and western milk and food products. It intends to strengthen the College laboratory facilities required for further research and practical training to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
