DAV College - Kaithal was started in April 1969 under the banner of DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi. Kaithal is an ancient town, older than Mahabharta and situated on Karnal-Kaithal road. Ch. Bansi Lal, the then Chief Minister, Haryana laid down the foundation stone of this college. Late Sh. B.R. Goyal, Ex-P.S. to State Health Minister, Govt. of India, New Delhi was the moving spirit behind the idea of its starting and growth. Late Ch. Ishwar Singh, Ex-Speaker, Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Sh. L.P. Aggarwal, a national reputed eye surgeon and Late Sh. Tulsi Ram Singhal rendered all assistance for its growth.
DAV College - Kaithal is catering to the needs of rural area and weaker section in the field of higher education in two faculties i.e. in Humanities and Commerce. DAV College - Kaithal possesses 8 acres of land in the heart of the town. It has sufficient class rooms, Computer laboratory, Language Lab, spacious playgrounds, beautiful canteen, splendid grassy lawns and other facilities required for the college. DAV College - Kaithal offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma course.
A well stocked and updated library is the backbone of any educational institution, which serves as a bank of information for students and staff. DAV College - Kaithal library has at present 16300 books on its shelves covering a large range of subjects. The textbooks section has several copies of various text books for the benefit of such students who cannot afford to buy them. N.C.C is a very popular and an efficiently run organisation in DAV College - Kaithal . The cadets are governed by N.C.C rules laid down by the University from time to time. A whole time N.C.C officer conducts training and administration of N.C.C in the college. DAV College - Kaithal has one platoons of N.C.C for boys and girls. It has boys wing having an enrollment capacity of 83 and girls wing having an enrollment capacity of 23. DAV College - Kaithal has National Service Scheme. The aim of the scheme is to develop the all-round personality of the students to make them responsible and patriotic citizens and to develop in them the sense of dignity of manual labour.
N.S.S provides a forum to the young students for social service in their spare time. It has 2 units each having an enrollment capacity of 100 students. Proper emphasis is laid on cultural activities students are encouraged to take part in Dramatics, Debated, Declamation, Music and Dance, Hiking Tours, Social Service Projects, Leadership Camps and various other activities. Every student is required to join and become an active member of at least two of the various clubs and associations in DAV College - Kaithal .
