The institute owes its existence to the benevolent act of Dr.Narendra Dwivedi who is also a remarkable personality in the C.S.J.M university. Gauri Shanker Dwivedi Mahavidyalaya - Kanpur is named in the memory of Late Dr.GAURI SHANKER DWIVEDI who was the grandfather of Dr.Narendra Dwivedi. He had established 18 colleges up till now. Dr. GIRJA SHANKAR MISHRA is the founder management society and is a learned scholar and highly educated human being. Through his noble hard work he had secured following degrees in first division M.Sc Botony,M.A. B.Ed(Sanskrit,Hindi,English,Philosophy & Litreture ),P.hd. in Sanskrit. D.litt.
