Government Polytechnic - Lalitpur was established in 1987 in a private building with the branch Stenography & Secretarial Practice Intake of 30 Students. The institute is running with two discipline having intake of 60 each student in Mechanical Engineering (Maintenance) & Modern Office Management and Secretarial Practice respectively. Diploma Certificate of above disciplines are given to Government Polytechnic - Lalitpur by board of technical education U.P., Lucknow and admission are offered by joint entrance examination conducted by council of joint entrance examination in the month of June every year through state level competition. Government Polytechnic - Lalitpur provides Diploma program to the college students.
