Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai was established in 2005. Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai is located in the Dubai Knowledge Village Block 16, which is situated in close proximity to Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, and Mall of the Emirates. Its standard academic year comprises of the autumn (October), winter (January) and spring (April) terms. It offers off-campus accommodation as well as international student visas for full-time students.
Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai is the first overseas campus of the internationally renowned Middlesex University in London. The campus which opened in January 2005, has over 1,300 students from over 60 nationalities and offers 25 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a wide variety of subject areas. The origins of Middlesex University date back to 1878 and it is one of only a handful UK universities to have been awarded three Queen’s anniversary prizes. In 2007, Middlesex was ranked second in London for Teaching and Learning (HEFCE) and the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) rated research at Middlesex as ‘Top 10 among new UK universities’.
Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai campus is spread over nearly 50,000 sq ft (4,600 m2) and is the first Middlesex campus outside North London. The first programmes - mostly, in Business Studies - were offered to students from January 2005.
The Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai campus is licensed by Dubai Knowledge and Human Authority (KHDA), and all of its programes are individually approved by the KHDA. In August 2009 KHDA’s University Quality Assurance International Board (UQAIB) commended quality of university's programmes.

The main teaching facility occupies three floors of a spacious self-contained building in the stunning Knowledge Village development. It includes lecture theatres, an English Language Centre, seminar rooms, computer laboratories, Wi-Fi enabled areas, a library, student focus areas, a student lounge and a prayer room. The library, which is growing as Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai campus expands, provides all the learning materials needed for each module, including books, periodicals and audiovisual materials. Teaching staff were handpicked to ensure a top-class education is delivered.
The Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai Library, located on the ground floor of the campus, aims to provide the learning materials needed for each module. These include more than 6000 books and 20,000 online journals, a magazine collection and audio visual materials - some in print and others in electronic formats. The Library catalogue shows what is available. The electronic sources pages display the University's data bases and full text online journals. Students are helped to access these and to gain the skills they need to evaluate information sources critically.
The Library is growing and developing as the university expands, both in terms of electronic and book resources. Since opening in January 2005 the Library has been enlarged with the addition of two study rooms and extra computers for students' use. This Campus Guide is a publication of Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai for current and new students for the academic year 2010-11. It provides valuable information to new and returning student alike, on topics such as key dates during the year, how to find your way around the campus, what academic support is available and whom to contact for queries, registering and withdrawal from modules, timetable and fee-payment options and a summary of key rules and regulations. It lists all campus support facilities and their usage details and also practical information for additional services provided in Dubai Knowledge Village and the vicinity of the campus.
A variety of facilities are available on premises, this includes fully furnished rooms that are available on either single or sharing basis, snack bar, Gym, tennis tables, lounge suits with TV and cable, kitchen, laundry room, internet connection, security, cleaning services and free air-conditioned shuttle buses which will be running at several intervals during the day to the University Campus as well as weekend shopping trips.
Currently Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai offers 17 undergraduate and 3 postgraduate programmes, as well as pre-undergraduate studies. All four of University's schools (Arts and Education, Business School, Engineering and Information Sciences and Health and Social Sciences) offer courses in Dubai campus. All degrees are issued by Middlesex University, UK. In 2008 Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai awarded its first honorary doctorate to His Excellency Sultan Bin Sulayem. Subject focus: Accountancy, business administration, psychology, communication and media, computing science, tourism, human resource management, information technology, hospitality management, publishing and professional short courses.
Middlesex University Dubai – MDX Dubai welcomes students who have completed one or more years of study at a recognized university, college or higher education (HE) institution who have earned academic credits in approved post-secondary qualifications. 'Pre-accreditation' is what we call our process for transferring credits. Most of our undergraduate programmes accept entrants onto the second and third year. In addition, we offer a number of top-up programmes which cover the third year of Bachelor degrees and are specifically designed for applicants wishing to progress from HNDs or following the second year of a standard Bachelor's degree programme.
