Ahmad Shaheed is a Maldivian politician and human rights advocate who was born in 1964. He has served as the first ever Chief Government Spokesperson of Maldives before serving as Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs from 14 July 2005 until August 20, 2007 and November 2008 to December 2010. Ahmad Shaheed holds a PhD in International Relations which he obtained from University of Queensland, Australia. He is also the co-founder of New Maldives, a group dedicated to make the Maldives a modern liberal democracy.
