Mr. Robert Bennett On Phone To DVLA Road Tax Service
I attempted to set-up a direct debit for the road tax on my wife's car wishing it to run from July 1st. This I did in the afternoon of June 30th because we wanted to make an early start for a holiday break in the\ morning of July 1st. To my horror the direct debit will run from the 1st of June thus losing me an entire months road tax, all this despite the fact that the car would not be used until the 1st July. When I contacted DVLA I was told that there was nothing they could do. The new road tax system is, in my view, fundamentally flawed and quite clearly a typical example of a stealth tax. R Bennett.
