KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce - Mumbai had an opportunity to endorse its standard and class through the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, an autonomous institution of University Grants Commission, in 2004. KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce - Mumbai received ‘A’ grade in the assessment. This motivated the Principal and Faculty to March further which culminated in starting M.Sc. courses in Information Technology, Bio-Technology and Centre for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems. The college has grown in leaps and bounds in terms of student strength, courses, subjects offered and facilities etc.
KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce - Mumbai beloved founder Padmabhushan Pujya Late Shri. K. J. Somaiya laid the foundation of Somaiya Vidyavihar in 1959. It was the distinguished vision of our beloved founder that modern professional education must remain true to the spirit of Indian ethos and culture. In the past five decades, Somaiya Vidyavihar has grown into an educational complex with thirty five institutions catering to diverse fields of education such as Humanities, Engineering, Education, Management, and Mass-communication with students’ strength of 27,000 and 1,700 faculty members in a throbbing sixty six acres campus.

Health post is the common facility provided by Management of KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce - Mumbai for the benefit of Students, Teachers and Non-teaching staff in 2004 with the help of K. J. Somaiya Medical College. This Health post was for three colleges, KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce - Mumbai, K. J. Somaiya College of Arts & Comm. and S. K. Somaiya College of Arts, Sc. & Comm. The Doctors from Medical College visit to Health Post on every Wednesday between 9.00 am to 12.00 noon. This Health post is situated opposite to chemistry lab on ground floor. Health post is a like small dispensary where all required accessories were made available by KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce - Mumbai. Apart from dressing and consultations, doctors try to create awareness in the staff and students about general health conscious, communicable diseases and general fitness. Due to this many of the senior teachers started keeping track of their blood pressure level by visiting Health post on regular basis.
1 MAH GIRLS BN NCC Unit is an open unit. The girl students from sister institutions and many nearby KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce - Mumbai can enroll for NCC in this Unit. The permitted strength is 80 cadets per unit. The NCC unit of our college is very dynamic and enthusiastic. The cadets have participated in several camps and took initiative in the organization of several activities at the Unit level. Apart from the following highlights, the cadets participated in several extension activities organized by the battalion like Juhu beach cleaning after Gnash Immersion procession, Pulse polio drive, several Campaigns like anti-Leprosy, anti-tobacco, Aids Awareness Campaign, Sports day, and celebration of the festivals like Dahi-Handi, Dassera, Dipawali, Id, and Christmas. The aim of NCC is to Experience military life.
The Alumni association shares the vision of making KJ Somaiya College of Science and Commerce - Mumbai, the best college, a college to be proud of. In this direction, the association has initiated steps to tap the expertise of its members to setup an effective career guidance cell and a placement cell. A further plan is to setup an NCC activity centre, complete with firing range is being considered. Further, the association is ready to collaborate with the college to guide students for various defense competitive examinations especially SSB interviews.
