Thapar University-TU Science and Technology Entrepreneur’s Park has been founded jointly by Thapar University and DST, Govt. of India. Also known as
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Institute was established in 1956 by Karam Chand Thapar of the Thapar Group of companies. The Institute is situated in the city of Patiala in Punjab.
Thapar University-TU is the major Institute situated in the 250-acre. Thapar Technology Campus in the historic city of Patiala Punjab. Besides
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Thapar Technology campus also has Thapar Polytechnic, Thapar Centre for Industrial Research and Development. The main objective of this institute is to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education in Engineering and Technology, a close interaction with industry, and a strong emphasis on research. The Institute has grown progressively in size and activities during the last four decades of its existence.
More than 10,000 engineers have graduated from
Thapar University-TU. In appreciation of its achievements, Institute was granted full autonomy and the status of a Deemed University in 1985 by the University Grants Commission. The aim of this institute is to provide top-notch professionals who have learnt their skills in an environment of highly competent, research oriented and skilled faculty with high-tech infrastructure.
Thapar University-TU offers courses in undergraduate programmes leading to Bachelor of Engineering degree and postgraduate programmes leading to Master of Engineering Master of Software Engineering, Master of Technology, Master of Science, Master of Computer Applications Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science degrees.
In addition, industry oriented and practice based Master's Degree programmes in different subjects are offered in collaboration with Technical Teacher Training Institute, Chandigarh. Students are required to take the AIEEE Exam in order to get admission into Thapar University for the undergraduate program and students take the MET exam for admission into graduate/postgraduate programs.
Thapar University-TU has started MBA Recently in addition to dual Mater of Business Administration + B. E. five year integrated programme. Only those students will be qualified for the award of Institute Merit Scholarships who have cleared all the courses set for the respective programme up to the stage of the Award.
