Ramswarath College – R S College Thane was established on 1958 with Intermediate level classes then called as private institution. It is the oldest institution of higher education in Bihar. shri Ramswarath singh contributed a good deal of his mind, labour, money and land also for its building and the college was named as Ramswarath College – R S College Thane . Just after few years degree level classes in some of the subject of Arts and science class were started in this college. Again the successors of Shri Jaymangal Singh families came for its help and contributed some acres of land and more than one lakh of rupees in Cash for the construction of building and other developmental work. The Govt. of Bihar also gave some egrant for the building and as a consequence the magnificant building of the college came up in 1961.
Ramswarath College – R S College Thane is situated at Tarapur, Thane, Maharashtra. A big library building, Physics department block, student's common Room, a big stadium for games & sports were constructed from the UGC fund and state Govt. funds. There are many societies and academic associations functioning, almost in the entire department.
A big library was established in the college premises with the establishment of the college. It runs in a seperate building having well furnished reading room for teachers, boys and girls. The library of Ramswarath College – R S College Thane has more than 26,000(twenty Six thousand) books and many types of journal. About 15 thousand reading materials are available here in which more than two thousand references, two thousand text books and hundreds of magazines and papers of National and International level are the key features of the library.
Dozens of reputed Hindi and English Newspapers and Magazines are available. Students and teachers get the reading materials (papers, magazine also) and books according to their own choice by open access issue system. For the Boys and Girls there are separate Hostel in Ramswarath College – R S College Thane campus.
