University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra was established by Kurukshetra University in 2004 as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ to provide quality education in engineering & technology from the State of Haryana for UG & PG programmes. University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra is serving as a nodal agency for the matters of academic importance like, development of scheme of examination, syllabus, academic plan and maintenance of standards in affiliated Engineering colleges and is headed by Director and Dean Engineering & Technology. On the basis of academic strength and considerable expertise available in university departments, University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra decided to start B.Tech. Degree programme in the technically important disciplines of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering was added during session 2007-08.
Initially, University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra was also decided to start M.Tech. Degree programme in Microelectronics & VLSI Design has since being transferred to Electronics Science Deptt., K.U.K. and Software Engineering. Presently, the Institute is also running M.Tech Program in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Biotechnology w.e.f. from academic session 2009-10. The University has constructed a separate building for University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra with all amenities and modern laboratories, workshop, library and classroom & 6 seminars halls facilities. The University campus offers excellent environment for the overall personality development of the students. Within a short span of time, University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra has earned a good reputation within the state of Haryana. The admissions to B.Tech programs in the institute are made on the basis of AIEEE rank through Haryana State Counseling Society.

University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra Library has a rich collection of 339817 volumes in the stream of Sciences, Management, Social Science, Commerce and Humanities too. The Library ERNET Centre with 150 computers for the faculty members, students and Research Scholars has an internet connectivity of 10 mbps leased line. University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra Library has also provided internet connectivity to almost all the teaching and non-teaching Departments, Hostels and the entire Campus through WI FI internet connection. In addition to this, under U.G.C.-INFONET E-Journals consortium library provides an access to 8453 scholarly journals. The Library has automated it’s in house activities such as library membership, circulation of documents, holdings of periodicals, catalogue as Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).
University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra Health Centre looks after the Medical needs of the student, staff and their families of the campus. Medicines are given in the institute Health Centre round the clock. Homeopathic medicines are also given in the Health Centre. Complete Physiotherapy Unit, Computerized ECG, EEG and Spirometry, X-Ray Ambulance facilities, laboratories facilities with Auto Analyzer etc. Ultrasound and Dental facilities are available in the institute Health Centre.
University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra Sports Department is a full-fledged Department with one Director, Physical Education & Sports. Two Assistant Directors (Male & Female), 4 University Coaches and enthusiastic team of 30 members of the non-teaching staff. Affairs of University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra sports come under the auspices of Kurukshetra University Sports Council, where Principals and Lecturer Physical Education of all the affiliated Colleges is its member. Due representation is given to Coaches in the body. University Institute of Engineering and Technology - UIET Kurukshetra provides Bachelor Degree and Master Degree.
