This sapling was planted by Late Rev. Ch. Balwant Singh in 1998. It is being managed under the aegis of S.M.D.R.S.D. College society, Pathankot. Today, this sapling has bloomed into a fruitful tree. This professional academic institute is situated at G.T. Road, Pathankot which is meeting point for the states of Punjab, H.P. and Jammu-Kashmir.

S.M.D.R.S.D. College of Education has a long tradition since 1953 to come up to the expectations of the people of this area. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Late Ch. Balwant Singh Ji in 1998, which had a vision to start this college for the benefit of the people who could not afford higher education outside the town.
